Ikkat is a labour intensive craft that requires years of practice to perfect. In india, the most recognizable forms of ikkat come from the southern state of Andhra pradesh, Telangana & Orissa. Ikkat’s signature blury effect of resist-dyeing on silk or cotton is recreated by trend artisans using a special brush.
